Los Angeles Times, November 16th 2003
... The day after the Chargers played Miami on a Monday night three weeks ago
- the game was moved to Tempe, Ariz., because of wildfires in San Diego -
Flutie flew to Minneapolis, where he sat in as the drummer for a three-song
session with the band Barenaked Ladies. One of those three songs will be played

Doug Flutie and the Barenaked Ladies at NFL.com or ESPN.com.

... Putting it another way, Doug Flutie had a much better
week as a drummer than a quarterback. In the NFL's Monday Night
at the Mic contest, he played drums with the rock group Barenaked Ladies
and was overwhelmingly voted the fourth and final semifinalist. ...
